THE POSSIBLE SHAPE OF WHAT WE THINK IS IMPOSSIBLE!

Like everyone else in the world we always think that one or other task seems to be impossible. Being a CA student, I always used to think AIR 1 seems to be impossible for me. But then I thought why they can but I cannot and there seems to be a possibility afterward. This applies to every situation in life also.
All of us know very well the situation of education system in India; the situation is very frightening. The worst is the most important level i.e. basic level. The latest Annual Status of Education Report states almost 50% of students in standard 5th cannot read textbook of standard 2nd and almost 60% of students of standard 8th were unable to do the basic mathematical operations. This terrible situation enforces us to think the reason behind it. We start thinking, is teacher the reason behind it? Yes, it is, but if we carefully observe the state of Indian education especially the government schools, it is worst. Though government is spending a lot of money on the same yet they are not delivering the expected result. We need to ponder over the point to find out the exact reason which hits education system the most. The government is spending the money all around and paying more money to the government teacher than the private teacher. Yet, they are not delivering the expected result and why they should deliver when they are having better job security even without performing. When we ask anyone for the solution who is aware of the fact, everyone is simply clueless. And it seems impossible to solve the problem.
But there always exists a possible shape of what we think is impossible. There is always a solution for every problem and similarly for this too. The solution is competition. Yes, competition can solve this problem. The lack of competition or we can say no competition resisting the teachers from performing well as they know that the poor don’t have alternative of government school. Poor would continue to come to the government school and state would continue to run the schools and they would continue to earn much in exchange of their adhoc services and teaching.
In order to solve the problem, the next task is to bring the competition into the picture. US have shown the way, the recently elected government has ushered the voucher system to reform education system. Under the voucher system, the government will provide money to parents in the form of voucher instead of spending money on government school. This can also be introduced in India also, where parents would have the opportunity to decide the best private school for their children and submit the voucher. The school can encash it with the government. In this way, government would keep spending but in a transformed manner and student would get far better education. This would also give a sense of competition to government teachers and would enforce them to perform better. It is clearly showing us the possible shape of what we are thinking impossible and would completely transform the education system in India.

All of your suggestions are warmly welcomed,,,,,

  3. Let's keep aside government schools for a while.
Even the approach of private/convent school is no where towards quality learning. Teacher's and even students and parents worry for marks.
Marks they would be able to flaunt in the society, no one looks at the broader picture where we need to start looking for imbiding skills within us.
Coming back to the ever depleting education quality of government schools, it's time that government sets up a independent body to regulate government schools, which conducts Freq review audits.
Your suggestions are worthwhile and it's High time, we need to take a bigger step.
    Well written Mr. Ajay Agrawal

    1. Thank you Mr. Tinku Khandelwal, the steps towards the complete transformation of education system is mandatory. The purpose of education is not to teach- what to think but its purpose is, how to think. And towards this not only government but we all together as society must bring awareness and must take the steps. Besides that the quality of education in govt school is worst that must be taken care, on priority basis.

  5. Well the blog is good topic. But according to me its not the Pvt. School or govt.school. Its the teacher. Truly said “the destiny of a nation is shaped inside the four walls of the class room”. Let's coming straight to the point why not to hire a teacher with good morale value+high qualification(professional qualification will be more adequate because he is more updated about society and its need). Well its good Ajay that you think something different.
Some point i'm not clear about:-
1.People may collect alot of money on basis of childrens education and whats the possibility that they will use it for sending them to good school.
    2. Even if people send them to school every parents wants their child to go to the Pvt. school according to your blog.
    3. This may also give rise unemployment in govt. School. As nobody will send their children to govt. School bcoz of condt. You mention in your blog.
There's alot but this will be enough :D

    1. Thank you Mr. Chanu. Further, I would like to appreciate your concern towards nation transformation. Yes, you are absolutely correct the teacher are the most important pillar due to which a child crafts his future beautifully. Well if teachers perform their job nicely then there will be no issues. But i think you are aware enough that they are also not doing the same.
      Reply for your queries-
      1. This is the reason government should provide parents voucher only not money.
      2. Because the private players are doing relatively better than govt.
      3. This only the reason which would make govt. teachers more competent.
I would like to invite you to discuss more. Your views are really impressive.

  6. It is nicely written, Ajay.

But as per the current education system, private school education is also not fulfilling the need of learning as children's are loaded with kind of assignments they can't do, and so the assignments are being done by their parents so that their child must not get lesser grade. So, private education system is only encouraging children for getting better grades eventually compromising on learning.

Although, Keep up the good work buddy, such initiatives as yours are much needed.

    1. Thanks Chetan for appreciating the views. The problem is not only there in our system but also in our society that parents only expects grades, which can solved by bringing whole society together and spreading awareness.

  7. Now a days approach of parents & teachers towards the education of the child is only up to his score, Instead of concentrating on the knowledge he will be gaining in his study life. From past few years govt. has taken a discussion of moving the students to the next class without failing them till 8th standard, because of which students and their parents as well as teacher have taken the base of education very lightly.

What I think upon the subject is govt. has to change the system to strongen up the roots, the base of education. The purpose of study is just not limited up to clearing the examination but it is gaining wise wast knowledge of what we learn. and the parents of the students must focus on the conceptual leanring skills and knowledge and not only on their scores.

I appreciate your thinking on this subject and well written article.

    1. Well said Mr.Gopal, the parents must not only focus on the grades of their children. But on their knowledge level and competencies. Moreover Mr. Jack Ma,Founder, Alibaba has also said- "One doesn't need to be in the top three in his class, being in the middle is fine, as long as his grades aren't too bad. Only this kind of person has enough time to learn other skills." This can only be possible when society would aware enough to shift their focus on knowledge advancement. Thanking you Mr. Bhagwat for your appreciation.

  9. Yes absolutely,You choosen the good topic,
Government needs to think towards education system of india, now a days private education system charging a large amount of fees which everyone doesn't affords and one who dont have money, then he has to prefer Government school due to non availability of funds with them,so because of that a children who has ability, courage, sound mind, skills are not performing well up to fullest due to non co-operation of Government school teachers and management. So very nice topic choosen, everyone needs to think towards this crucial topic specially present emerging generation and yes you mentioned the point Competition this is the reason why the Private Courses(ie.CA as you know because you are from that field how they are making there courses tough) due to this student having sound base of that field move forwards and compete with each other. So,Keep it up Good Job, really appreciate with your thinking and specially you try to divert the minds of people towards the situation where a normal person does not think.

    1. Thank you Aaditya, your thoughts really are contributing to the the discussion. Nowadays the cost of education is going higher and higher. The non availability of funds and bad conditions of govt. schools together building a circle which poor people can't pass through. Moreover such issues can be solved out only by the participation of the youth.

  10. Good read Ajay!!! But competition is not the exact solution because grades never help us excel in life. With competition it will only be an effort to make students achieve good grades instead of learning the skill of mastering the life. No doubt competition is necessary but to a certain extent that too after modifying the mode of imparting knowledge be it in a government svhool or private.
Alomg with teachers and education authorities it is important to inculcate these thoughts in students from primary level itself coz we cannot clap with one hand..
On your suggestion for voucher systems in india i will say it is a great suggestion but practically it will take long time to be executed in India where the population size comparitively large and the poor people occupy the major share in population. But actions should be taken... Thank you for such a wonderful post.

    1. Thank you Disha, the grades are not the ultimate destination.Education must be application(IDEAS) oriented rather than focusing on grades which can even be achieved without building new ideas. Afterward the sense of competition among school teachers due to fear of losing their jobs and availability of alternatives for poor under voucher system would definitely bring the changes. This would result the improvement in the performance of govt school. And yes it would not solve the problem completely and quickly due to various factors among them population, you mentioned. But still it would be a bigger step toward transformation.

The topic you choose is very important topic of everyone's life. Education is a very needed aspect of our life but presently it is not affordable by everyone but by the way of your blog it seems possible enough if this will be executed properly. All we need to do is just change the way of thinking then everything will be possible afterward.

I really appreciate your idea and will try to share it...

  13. I think instead of voucher system PPP(public private partnership) model in education would be a better option as govt. would not be able to pay that high amount of fees as of private school and pvt school would also not that easily accept the voucher system

  14. Voucher system is somewhat innovative but it will spread some kind of laziness in poor community. As we know that citizen of INCREDIBLE INDIA believe in making easy money. So by providing vouchers we will pay them for no work in return. I say this because more than 60% poor people believe in earn daily to feed themselves and their family. As if they earn 100 RS. Daily then they will spent 60 RS for food and next 40 RS for alcohol. So if we give them money voucher for their children's education they will treat this money as I said earlier (60% and 40% ratio). They will use its 40-60% for their children's education this is our hope and next 40% for their personal need. This will create LAZY INDIA and we will motivate them to not work for their children education. No tension, no hurdle, no worry for their future as their future is set by this voucher.

I do not say that this is wrong but you were familiar about only the positive side of it and its my job to make you familiar about the other side (negative side) of it.

Well you done a great job by blogging in INDIAN citizens favor. My best wishes for your next blog that they will also for human welfare.☺

So why should not govt opt a way which would provide better result and moreover spending would remain same only way would be changed....
